Speaking to FootballFanCast, former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie expects defender Craig Dawson to be the ‘biggest signing’ that he believes ‘will happen’ for the Hammers this year – coming after manager David Moyes hinted there is a ‘good chance’ his loan is made permanent.

Dawson has excelled in recent months under Moyes, keeping the likes of Fabian Balbuena and Issa Diop out of the starting eleven, with the Englishman continuing to be a mainstay after Angelo Ogbonna’s ankle injury.

This has prompted calls for the club to properly snap up the loanee from Watford, and the Irons boss spoke candidly over the situation earlier this month.

McAvennie expects ‘biggest signing’ for West Ham

Moyes hinted that West Ham are ‘very close’ to the amount of games needed to trigger a permanent deal clause whilst hinting there is a ‘good chance’ he becomes an official Hammer (football.london).

McAvennie, speaking to FootballFanCast, expects Dawson to be the ‘biggest signing’ he believes ‘will happen’ this year – urging GSB to get a deal done.

“The biggest thing for me with West Ham is the defence, it’s solid,” explained the 61-year-old.

“The biggest signing they will make is Dawson. They have got to get that boy’s name on the paper, he’s been outstanding.

“For £3million for a centre-half like that, he complements the other defenders because the other defenders want to play football and look good, and he just puts his body on the line, gets in front and it’s good balance for the team. That’s the biggest signing that I think will happen this year.”

Time will tell when he becomes a permanent West Ham man after Moyes’ admission to the press that it is ‘close’, but McAvennie believes it is a necessity and the biggest acquisition GSB will make.

Given how has impressed since coming into the side, it’s hard to argue with the pundit’s assessment.

Sheffield Wednesday will begin a new era this evening as Darren Moore takes the helm for his first game in charge of the Owls, after Dejphon Chansiri brought him in as the club’s new manager.

The 46-year-old arrives from nearby League One promotion chasers Doncaster Rovers, where he had implemented a progressive attacking brand of football, something that will vastly different to his predecessor, Tony Pulis, at Hillsborough Stadium.

Indeed, he leaves behind the division’s third-highest goalscorers to take over at this sinking ship. There will surely be changes afoot, and as such, long-serving centre-back Tom Lees could be most in danger given the likely change in system.

On the Chalkboard

‘His teams are renowned for playing an attractive, entertaining style of play,’ wrote YorkshireLive reporter Dom Howson following Moore’s appointment on Monday morning.

As per WhoScored, we can see that his Rovers side set-up to play from the back with 73% of their possession coming from their own third, or the middle-third, of the pitch whilst 72% of their goals have been scored from open play, which reinforces that high-intensity build up.

They also manage 12.9 shots per game, compared to the Owls’ appalling 8.7 per outing, so clearly, they do something right in attack given the limited time they spend in the final third and off the ball.

This is where Wednesday’s centre-backs will prove crucial and certainly why the calamitous Lees could be at risk.

Aside from goalkeepers and those with fewer than ten starts, the former club captain ranks third-bottom for passing accuracy this season (66.2%) behind Liam Palmer (63.8%) and Callum Paterson (53.9%), via WhoScored.

The 30-year-old also averages 2.7 long balls per game, the most of any Owls defender, and that won’t be something that pleases Moore as only one of his former defenders matches this number, meaning he clearly would favour the easy ball to midfield rather than hoofing it up the pitch.

Lees, who is valued at £2.25m by Transfermarkt and reportedly earns a whopping £22k-per-week in Yorkshire, has come under fire from several sections of the Hillsborough faithful in recent months.

Reactions have ranged from the extreme – one dubbed him “brain dead” and another called him a “disgrace” – to the less-so with a further fan simply asking the club to get rid of him in the summer.

As outlined in the summer, Lees’ performances regressed last season, and evidently, not much has improved as he’s part of the starting XI that sees the Owls in the relegation zone, having leaked 38 goals this term.

The “true leader” is surely going to face a tough time of remaining in the line-up under Moore if he continues to be abysmal with the ball at his feet.

Sheffield Wednesday embark on a new era this evening as Darren Moore takes charge of his first game since being appointed as new Owls boss this week.

It’s a crucial match too as they welcome local and relegation rivals Rotherham United to Hillsborough Stadium for a cliched ‘six-pointer.’

A victory would see Wednesday leapfrog the Millers into the final relegation spot, though they’d still be several points away from safety, so Moore needs to get it spot on immediately.

After suffering four consecutive defeats, the latest of which being an almighty collapse against Luton, something has got to change.

Owls interim Neil Thompson reverted back to a 3-5-2 but failed to bring Adam Reach back into the equation at left wing-back, a decision that proved costly as the 28-year-old can be one of their most influential players, on his day.

Indeed, the long-serving utility man has contributed towards five goals in 25 starts (three goals, two assists), which is only bettered by three other players, so he really ought to start.

Reach’s best performances have come on the left side of defence, with average ratings of 7.31 at left-back and 6.59 at left wing-back, as per WhoScored.

He is also amongst the Owls’ most creative players, having averaged 0.8 key passes per 90 minutes, only bettered by two other regular starters, as well as 0.7 accurate crosses per 90, which is only bettered than the same two players – Barry Bannan and fellow wing man, Kadeem Harris.

Interestingly, both of whom started, but Reach didn’t.

Wednesday journalist George Smith emphasised the £2.88m-rated dynamo’s importance to The Athletic, he said: “On his day, Reach can be one of the most influential players in the Championship,” before adding: “He is a very important player for Wednesday.”

Whilst sacked Owls boss Tony Pulis dubbed him a “top player.”

Given the weight of tonight’s result, a player as key as Reach simply has to start.

Moore must kickstart his reign with a win, and his chances will be boosted by deploying the versatile £20k-per-week gem out on that left flank.

نجم توتنهام السابق، 29 عامًا، لم يلعب بعد منذ إصابته سكتة قلبية على أرض الملعب مع الدنمارك أمام فنلندا في يورو 2020.

تم إنهاء عقده مع إنتر ميلان هذا الشهر حيث تم منع لاعبي كرة القدم الذين لديهم جهاز إزالة رجفان القلب (ICD) من اللعب في إيطاليا، ويراقب الجهاز إيقاع قلبه ويرسل صدمات إلى قلبه إذا لزم الأمر.

أكد وكيل أعماله مارتن شوتس بالفعل أن هناك بعض الفرق مستعدة للتعاقد مع إريكسن، وعاد النجم الدنماركي إلى التدريبات هذا الشهر مع ناديه السابق أودنسه الدنماركي.

الآن يسمح كياسو له بالتدرب معهم من أجل الحفاظ على لياقته، وفقًا لصحيفة “ذا صن” البريطانية نقلاً عن “Le Matin” السويسرية.

أكدت تقارير صحفية إنجليزية منذ قليل أن بيب جوارديولا المدير الفني لفريق مانشستر سيتي ليس مصابًا بفيروس كورونا، كوفيد 19.

وكان من المفترض أن يظهر جوارديولا في مؤتمر صحفي اليوم قبل مباراة الأحد المقبل ضد نيوكاسل يونايتد.

ويلتقي الفريقان عصر الأحد في إطار منافسات الجولة الثامنة عشر من بطولة الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز.

ولم يعقد جوارديولا مؤتمرا صحفيا اليوم الجمعة بسبب وجود اشتباه في إصابته بفيروس كورونا، حيث لم تكن نتيجة فحصه واضحة.

وجاءت تلك التكهنات في ظل تفشي فيروس كورونا في أروقة العديد من أندية إنجلترا في الفترة الأخيرة.

ولكن شبكة “manchestereveningnews” الإنجليزية ذكرت أن بيب جوارديولا لا يعاني من فيروس كورونا.

وأوضحت أن نتيجة اختبار جوارديولا جاءت سلبية، وسيتواجد في تدريبات مانشستر سيتي بشكل طبيعي غدًا بعد غيابه اليوم.

يعلم المدير الفني لفريق برشلونة تشافي هيرنانديز أن المباراة ضد بايرن ميونخ ستكون صعبة، لكنه لا يزال يأمل في أن يتمكن لاعبوه من تحقيق المفاجأة.

ويحل برشلونة ضيفًا على بايرن ميونخ في الجولة السادسة والأخيرة لدور المجموعات بدوري أبطال أوروبا غدًا الأربعاء، على ملعب “آليانز آرينا”، ساعيًا للتأهل لدور الـ 16، في مباراة بدون جمهور بسبب تداعيات فيروس كورونا.

وتحدث تشافي في المؤتمر الصحفي الخاص بالمباراة ونشرت صحيفة “ماركا” الإسبانية تصريحاته، وقال عن غياب الجمهور: “إنه لأمر مؤسف أن الجمهور لا يمكن أن يكون هناك نحن نلعب من أجل الجمهور، بغيابهم المباراة قد يغلب عليها طابع البرود”.

وأستطرد بشأن روبرت ليفاندوفسكي مهاجم بايرن ميونخ: “إذا لم يكن الأفضل، فهو واحد منهم، لكنه لا يسجل الأهداف فقط إنه يقوم بالعديد من الأشياء الأخرى بشكل جيد، لقد كان يصنع الفارق لسنوات عديدة، ليفاندوفسكي من لاعبي القمة”.

وعلّق تشافي على خصمه بايرن ميونخ: “عليك أن تتحلى بالصبر هذا ليس بين عشية وضحاها، غدا تلاقي الخصم الذي كان متفوقا في المباريات الأخيرة، نعتمد على أنفسنا وسنحاول بأسلحتنا بعد المباراة سنرى، لا أراها معجزة، إنها مباراة ويمكننا التغلب على أي خصم”.

وشدد تشافي: “من يحاول  حتى النهاية، لا يؤمن بكلمة فشل، إنها ثلاث نقاط معقدة للغاية، في ملعب صعب للغاية، سنحاول”.

ووجه تشافي كلمة لفريقه قائلاً: “دعهم ينسوا كل شيء، الضغط، أنا هنا لمساعدتهم، السيطرة على المباراة، مع العلم أن لدينا خصمًا معقدًا للغاية أمامنا نحن نعلم أن لدينا مباراة معقدة”.

وأتم تشافي: “يقول التاريخ أننا لم نفز أبدًا في ميونخ، لكن التاريخ موجود لتغيره إنني أتطلع حقًا إلى ذلك”.

Southampton face League One Shrewsbury Town in the FA Cup on Tuesday evening and whilst the Saints will no doubt be hoping for a cup run, the game represents an ideal opportunity for Ralph Hasenhuttl to utilise some of his academy talents.

Shrewsbury are struggling in the third tier so far this season so you would expect Southampton to have enough quality to deal with them, even if Hasenhuttl does opt to call up some youngsters to the first-team squad.

One academy talent who should be involved against the Shropshire side is 20-year-old Jake Vokins.

The left-back is more experienced than a lot of other academy players at Southampton, having made three appearances for the first-team in his career thus far, including one goal.

That goal came in a 2-0 win against Championship side Huddersfield Town at this stage of the FA Cup last season, when he sealed the win with a powerful late drive that went in off the crossbar.

Therefore, Hasenhuttl has trusted him to play in this competition before against opposition that are objectively stronger than Shrewsbury, so he should be handed his fourth appearance for the Saints on Tuesday night.

It would allow the Austrian to rest Ryan Bertrand, who has been a mainstay in the Saints’ team so far this season, perhaps due to a lack of senior back-up options to the 31-year-old.

Playing Vokins would also allow Hasenhuttl to cast an eye to the future, as Bertrand’s contract is set to expire in the summer. If he does end up leaving the South Coast club, it could well be the 20-year-old who is expected to step up as his replacement.

It would also allow the Southampton manager to assess whether Vokins can be a reliable back-up the former Chelsea man, especially with the Saints heavily linked with Manchester United left-back Brandon Williams, so Tuesday could well prove to be Vokins’ one and only chance to impress in the first-team this season.

The 20-year-old definitely deserves an opportunity to show Hasenhuttl what he can do in the first-team, so the Austrian must unleash him against Shrewsbury this evening.

What’s the word?

According to Football Insider, the defender’s loan club Zulte Waregem are expected to make his move back to his native country permanent next year.

The 28-year-old joined the Jupiler Pro League side in the summer and will remain there until the end of the season, but the club are reportedly keen on keeping hold of him for good.

Relief for Radrizzani

Leeds have made some smart signings over the years, but they have also had their fair share of flops too. De Bock is definitely up there as one of their more questionable business deals.

The Whites brought the left-back to Elland Road in 2018 and paid a little more than £1million for his services. But since his arrival, he has spent more time at other clubs than he has at Leeds.

In two years, De Bock has left the Yorkshire outfit on four occasions to pursue temporary moves whilst being out of favour at his parent club.

The Belgian has played a total of just seven games in white – his last appearance came in October two years ago in the Championship, before he was axed and passed from loan club, to loan club, via Transfermarkt.

The Marcelo Bielsa reject is on a contract worth a reported £15,000 per week. This is more than the likes of Stuart Dallas, Luke Ayling and Mateusz Klich are currently earning, despite not playing a single match for Leeds in more than two years.

Radrizzani clearly made a huge error in working with former manager Thomas Christiansen to bring De Bock to Elland Road. The Italian will be glad to see the back of him next summer and finally stop his wages rinsing the club’s money pot.

تحدث محمد يوسف مدرب الأهلي السابق، عن قائمة منتخب مصر التي أعلنت استعدادًا لمباراتي أنجولا والجابون في تصفيات إفريقيا المؤهلة لكأس العالم.

منتخب مصر يحل ضيفاً على أنجولا يوم الجمعة المقبل، في إطار الجولة الخامسة من عمر التصفيات الإفريقية المؤهلة لكأس العالم.

فيما يستضيف منتخب مصر نظيره الجابون يوم 16 من الشهر الجاري على استاد الجيش ببرج العرب في الجولة الأخيرة من التصفيات.

وقال محمد يوسف في تصريحات إذاعية عبر أثير راديو “9090”: “كيروش مدرب كبير للغاية، والجميع يعلم ذلك، ومن الواضح أنه درس أنجولا بشكل مميز، فهو مدرب يعمل 8 أو 9 ساعات في اليوم وحفظ الفريق”.

وتابع: “كيروش يتابع اللاعبين بشكل جيد للغاية وفي النهاية يتخذ القرار، وأعتقد أنه سيغير أو سيلعب بشكل مختلف عن مواجهتي ليبيا، وعندما ننظر للعناصر التي اختارها نرى أنه يمكن أن يلعب بطريقة 4-2-3-1، بشكل عادي، وكذلك 4-3- 3، وهما الطريقتين الذي يميل للعب بهما”.

وأردف: “أتوقع أن كيروش سيفعل مفاجأة لفريق أنجولا، فمثلا ممكن أن يلعب بأفشة في مركز 10، ومحمد صلاح على الجانب الأيمن ومصطفى محمد مهاجم، ومحمد شريف في اليسار، بطريقة 4-2-3-1، وهذه من الطرق التي يلجأ لها”.

وعن اختيارات كيروش لقائمة منتخب مصر: “لديه حوالي 19 لاعبًا قوام أساسي لم يغير فيهم، وهو يرى أنهم لاعبين دوليين ولديهم خبرة ومنهم الستة المحترفين خارج مصر”.

وتطرق للحديث عن أحمد ياسين لاعب البنك الأهلي: “هو لاعب جيد للغاية، ويسير بخطوات جيدة، أنا جلبته من المقاصة للبنك الأهلي، وهو من العناصر المميزة، وقلت له إنه سيكون من أفضل المدافعين وسينضم لمنتخب مصر”.

وواصل: “أحيي كيروش على اختياره 4 لاعبين خارج الأهلي والزمالك وبيراميدز، وهم أكبر أندية، فقد ضم محمود جاد من إنبي، ومروان حمدي من سموحة وهو مهاجم مميز، ومحمد صبحي حارس فاركو، وأحمد ياسين من البنك الأهلي”.

واختتم: “رمضان صبحي كان لابد أن ينضم لمنتخب مصر، ولكني أعتقد أنه يريد توصيل رسائل للاعبين المستبعدين”.
