It has been a difficult start to the season for Everton so far this campaign.

After 12 games, they sit 15th in the table, with just four wins from those matches. Not only that, they have scored just 13 goals, which is lower than all but five other teams in the division.

Considering they are languishing towards the foot of the table, it must be hard for the Toffees to see how well their city rivals Liverpool are getting on. The Reds currently top the Premier League table by eight points from Leicester City and Chelsea, with current champions Manchester City a further point behind in fourth place. On top of that, they are the current European champions as well.

On December 4, the two teams will meet at Anfield. The Goodison Park outfit have announced that they will be holding a screening for the game, but it seems that many of the club’s supporters don’t plan on attending.

They have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts, and you can see some of the best comments from the social media platform below.

Meanwhile, many Everton fans want to see one man join the Toffees.

Tom Lockyer has been a revelation since joining Charlton Athletic for free in the summer after the expiration of his contract with Bristol Rovers.The 24-year-old has played every minute of the club’s Championship campaign so far, with his influence at the heart of the defence indicated by the fact he makes 1.1 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 3.9 clearances per game.It is not only at club level that he has made his impact known, as he played the full 90 minutes in both of Wales’ must-win games during the international break, helping them to the two victories that earned his nation a place at Euro 2020:

This means that the centre-back has a reasonable chance of making the landmark tournament in the summer, injury permitting, which has left Charlton fans delighted for him.

There was also a sense of relief among some that they have the 24-year-old within their own ranks and they view his progression through the qualifiers as a well-deserved achievement.

They don’t ever miss an opportunity do they?

The rivalry between Derby County and Nottingham Forest is a long and storied one, so whenever there’s a chance for one to poke fun or criticise the other, fans are going to do their best to get under each other’s skins. And when it’s a situation like this, they were never going to keep quiet.

The news came out yesterday that Derby County had decided to terminate the contract of their club captain Richard Keogh as he recovers from the injuries suffered in a crash with his teammates Tom Lawrence and Mason Bennett back in September.

Whilst there were some who used it as one final chance to have a pop at Keogh, there were others who decided to take a more serious tone about the incident and outright condemn their decision, pointing out the hypocrisy in letting the two main culprits Lawrence and Bennett still play for the club.

Taking to Twitter, they were rather divided on the matter. Here’s some of the reaction.

Some Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to reveal that they don’t think they can get back to where they used to be any time soon.The Saints finished 6th in the Premier League back in 2015/16, just three points off a Champions League place, and were playing European football against the likes of Inter Milan at the San Siro as recently as the 2016/17 season.

Back then, the south coast side were flying with futureÂBallon d’Or nominees such as Sadio Mane, Virgil van Dijk and Dusan Tadic running riot for them, while Graziano Pelle, Victor Wanyama and Jose Fonte also performed at a very high level.

Now, however, the side from St Mary’s find themselves battling relegation more often than not, with players in their ranks who are nowhere near the level of the aforementioned stars.

Southampton only just managed to survive by the skin of their teeth under Mark Hughes in 2017/18, finishing in 17th – just three points above the relegation zone.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side have started this season in similarly poor fashion, sitting in 17th once again having won just two of their first nine league games – they are only above the relegation zone on goal difference.

Gary Neville stated that Trent Alexander-Arnold is on the verge of being a world-class right-back, but made it clear that he needs to work on one area of his game if that is to happen.

What did he say?

The Liverpool right-back is praised frequently, primarily for his ability on the ball, with Jamie Carragher previously labelling him as the Reds’ version of Kevin De Bruyne – suggesting that a future in midfield could perhaps await.

Alexander-Arnold was key to a lot of what Liverpool did well against Spurs, too, leading to plaudits from Neville about his attacking play.

However, the former Manchester United player is concerned about the defensive side of his game. He often finds himself out of position – it was an area exploited in the match against Sheffield United – and Neville believes that until he addresses the weakness, he can’t be considered world-class.

Speaking post-match on Sky Sports’ coverage of Liverpool vs Tottenham, he said: “Liverpool’s full-backs are quite simply sensational.

“Robertson is a better full-back than Trent Alexander-Arnold in my opinion.

After reminiscing over his full Premier League debut away at Man United and describing him as one of the best attacking full-backs he’s ever seen, Neville delivered a frank verdict on how he needs to improve from a defensive standpoint.

“He’s got to become as serious about his defending as he is about his attacking player and you’ve got a world class full back there,” Neville said.

“I took the Man of the Match off him because his defensive play could have cost his team.”

Due to Liverpool’s dominance of the ball – with an average of 58% possession this term – his positioning often goes punished, but it could be a reason why he is often left out of the England starting line-up; on his last start against Kosovo his poor defending cost his team goals.

The pundit is quick to criticise Alexander-Arnold – who is valued at £72m by Transfermarkt – but the 21-year-old barely put a foot wrong in a defensive aspect against Spurs, and arguably his only poor moment came in failing to close down Heung-min Son in the build-up to the visitors’ goal.

Jamie Carragher was quick to leap to his defence, describing him as Liverpool’s most creative outlet, and since his 19 assists from the beginning of 2018/19 – with three this term – are not bettered by a teammate, it is clear how crucial he is to his side.

He was a threat all afternoon against Tottenham, making seven key passes, and he almost rifled the ball home from distance, too.

It is easy for Neville to point to defensive weaknesses but it is something he has improved on in the last few weeks, and he made two tackles and one interception on Sunday.

Prior to that, he made one tackle and five interceptions against Leicester but that did not prevent him from tallying five key passes, stats that underline the great balance he has in his game.

The fact he is performing this well in a side that has won the European Cup and lost just one league match in 48 suggests that he is in fact world-class.

The story involving Zinedine Zidane and Gareth Bale at Real Madrid is an interesting one.

Of course, the Welshman was already all packed and ready to depart the Spanish capital last summer and head to what seemed like the greener pastures of China.

But something happened to swiftly change the narrative and Bale not only ended up staying at the Santiago Bernabeu but he also became their key man in attack.

And sure, you might expect that from a player who once cost them £85.3m, but we all know how that relationship has quickly deteriorated.

Zidane himself was pretty vocal in public about the whole situation, proclaiming that Bale’s departure would be welcomed and should be done swiftly. Of course, the Frenchman then changed his tune once the transfer window was all but closed and the chances of the player’s departure turned to naught.

Of course, he suddenly described Bale as one of the important members of his squad.

And with two goals and one assist already to his name in the ongoing 2019/20 La Liga season, Bale has become just that – important.

But even with his palpable contribution to the team, the 30-year-old forward was left on the bench on matchday six and then completely left out of the squad for Real Madrid’s second group stage clash in the Champions League against Club Brugge.

Seeing how Los Blancos completely bottled their European opener, suffering a humiliating 3-0 defeat at the hands of Paris Saint-Germain, leaving out a key forward in the next encounter is a really weird decision, especially when you consider the 2-2 draw against the Belgian side.

It’s also a decision that brings up many questions and demons of the past.

Is Zidane doing this out of spite or is there more to these recent omissions? There must be something because leaving out a player in form in big clashes is counterproductive and suggests there might be some kind of a problem going on behind the scenes in this love-hate relationship.

Of course, with Bale’s well-known injury history, it’s quite possible Zidane is playing his cards rather close to his chest but one would not expect Real to rotate heavily in Europe, particularly in a game that almost left them with egg on their face.

It increasingly looks like a mistake.

Celtic return to Europa League action tonight and will continue their search for a first group stage win as they host CFR Cluj.

The visitors won the Romanian league last season but failed to qualify for the Champions League, though a victory over Lazio in the first round of fixtures will have been a great confidence boost.

As a result of that win they now sit top of Group E, two points ahead of the Hoops after Neil Lennon’s men drew away with Rennes two weeks ago.

However, tonight’s clash promises to be a tough task as the only game Celtic have lost from their 18 matches this campaign came at home against Cluj in a Champions League qualifier.

Lennon will hope his side have learnt from their naivety in that match, but will likely trust most of the same players who have otherwise served him so well so far.

Here is how we think Celtic will line-up this evening, with Lennon making two key changes from the weekend.

The Scottish champions will be eager to put Saturday’s disappointing 1-1 draw with Hibernian behind them, and therefore Lennon may look to inject a bit of energy into his team with the inclusion of Mohamed Elyounoussi.

It would be a bit of a gamble considering the on-loan Southampton man hasn’t featured too often yet, but he does have two assists from three games and started against Rennes, indicating he may be preferred for European competition by his manager.

Another who could return to the starting line-up is Hatem Abd Elhamed.

So far this season he has been rotated with Moritz Bauer and after his last showing against Cluj he will be eager to impress.

When the sides met before he slotted in as the third centre-back but could do little to stop four goals flying past Scott Bain, and therefore an improved performance will be needed for Celtic to come out with the points.

Lennon will be confident in his team’s ability going forward. Odsonne Edouard has started the season in fine form with five goals in six league games and this promises to be a good test of his ability, but with the likes of Ryan Christie and James Forrest playing behind him he should have some joy.

Christie, in particular, will be key. He has 11 goals and five assists already this season, and along with Edouard has already found the net against Cluj, so if they can find top form they could earn Celtic the win needed to kick-start their Europa League campaign.

وعن مواجهة ليفربول ثم الكلاسيكو ضد برشلونة ثم لقاء الإياب مع ليفربول مجددًا، عقّب الفرنسي: “كل عام في المرحلة الحاسمة من الموسم، أنت تخاطر دائمًا بكل شيء”.

وأكد: “أنا لا أنظر إلى تلك الأشياء، ولكن في كل يوم ما يشجعنا هو بدء يوم جديد، والباقي يتعلق بفلسفتك، نتحدث عن أشياء كثيرة، ما زلنا أحياء ونعمل وننافس، وهذا ما يشجعنا”.

Arsenal are safely through to the next round of the Carabao Cup thanks to a comfortable 5-0 win against Nottingham Forest.

Goals from Joe Willock, Rob Holding, Reiss Nelson and a brace from Gabriel Martinelli helped to sink the Championship side, the Gunners’ third victory in a row in all competitions.

It was also a game that manager Unai Emery used for the purpose of bringing players lacking match fitness back into the side.

Holding was making his first appearance of the campaign, while it was Kieran Tierney’s first-ever start for the club since arriving from Celtic during the summer transfer window.

While the match was against a side of inferior quality, it was still a good opportunity for Gunners fans to see the Scotland international in action for the first time, and the 22-year-old put in a solid all-round display that will surely have pleased his boss.

Both in defence and attack, Tierney showed what he is capable of, and was assiduous on his flank.

Going forward, he laid on two key passes, while also managing to dribble past his opponents on three occasions. No other Arsenal player managed more.

Defensively, too, he was solid, managing two tackles and not giving away a single foul during the 76 minutes he was on the pitch.

His 84.5% passing accuracy could have been better – only three Arsenal players had worse, including goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez – but there was bound to be some rustiness. Nevertheless, despite Forest targeting the flanks, they were only able to manage one shot on target throughout the game.

Tierney will be competing against Sead Kolasinac for a place on the left side of the defence, and his performance was better than the Bosnia international’s display in his last outing against Aston Villa.

That’s according to WhoScored, anyway, who gave the former Celtic man a 7.65 rating, compared to Kolasinac’s 6.84 against the Villans. Indeed, the latter has yet to be involved in a clean sheet in the Premier League.

It is important to emphasise that Tierney will face far sterner tests this season than Forest throughout the season but he can still be pleased with his display.

A solid full-back, after all, is just what they need.

واختتم: “النادي الأهلي وجميع الأندية التي لعب صالح بين صفوفها، صبرت عليه كثيرًا، لأنه جيد ويمتلك مهارات كثيرة”.
